Monaseed (Móin Na Saighead)
Monaseed (meaning the boggy place of flint arrows) is a tranquil village and comprises a four teacher Catholic Primary National School with 110 pupils (2012/2013), (www.monaseedns.com) a Catholic church dedicated to St. Brendan and a Community Hall. On the 10th October 2013 Monaseed National School will celebrate its centenary with a book launch to mark this very important occasion in the life of this rural school and its pupils and the community.
The Myles Byrne Community Hall was built in 1948 and dedicated to the memory of Myles Byrne a patriot of the 1798 rebellion on the 150th anniversary of the Irish Rebellion of 1798.
